BioI'm a communication scholar and professor. I have written about online social movements, new-media journalism, and the evolving digital landscape. My research right now centers on do-it-yourself media and particularly on the ways the tools and practices of so-called amateurs may be influencing news industries and products. My current book project concerns the shift from mass-media journalism over roughly the past ten years to a new journalism made possible by digital communication networks.
